Aloo Tikki is a flavorful Indian appetizer made with grated boiled potatoes mixed with spices then grilled until lightly crisp on the outside. Served with your favorite chutney.

Ingredients

3 - Yukon or russet potatoes, boiled and grated

1 green chili, finely chopped

½ teaspoon grated ginger

½ teaspoon minced garlic

¼ teaspoon turmeric

½ teaspoon red chili powder
-
½ teaspoon cumin powder
-
½ teaspoon amchur powder/dry mango
-
½ teaspoon chaat masala
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
2 tablespoons mint, chopped

2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped

2 tablespoons corn flour
-
Oil for frying
Directions
Peel and slice potatoes into quarters and boil until fork tender. Drain and set aside until cooled. Once cooled, grate potatoes and add to a large bowl.
To the potatoes, add chopped green chili, grated ginger, minced garlic, turmeric, chili powder, cumin powder, amchur powder, chaat masala powder, salt, mint and cilantro. Stir gently to combine.
Add the corn flour and mix well to form a soft dough.
Heat oil in a medium sized frying pan while you are forming the tikki patties.
Grease hands with oil and prepare ball-sized patties.
Add 4 patties to the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove to a paper towel lined plate. Continue with the rest of the patties.
Serve the aloo tikki with green chutney and tamarind chutney. See links below.
