I know that I'm German when I start eating this food. My heavens, I love cabbage in any form, but this braised cabbage is my all time favorite. You can add some bacon bits or goat cheese for variety. I like mine just plain old braised. It is better the longer it sits so I've been known to cook it in the oven and then put it in the crock pot for a long, slow warming. It's one of those foods you can prep in advance and it tastes better as it sits.
