Ingredients: 1 teaspoon oil; 1 slit green chili; 2 garlic cloves; ¼ inch piece of ginger, chopped; 1 ½ teaspoon urad or chana dal; ½ cup raw peanuts (w/o skin) or use already roasted peanuts; ½ teaspoon cumin seeds; ½ teaspoon salt; ½ to ¾ cup water; 1 teaspoon oil; ¼ teaspoon mustard seeds; 1 red chili, broken; Pinch of asafoetida; 1 garlic clove, minced; 1 sprig curry leaves
