We had this at every summer BBQ on the east coast. Not many people serve this on the west coast. Something different to try besides hamburgers and hotdogs..boring :) This recipe feeds a bunch. Of course, cut it in half for a smaller crowd.
Course: Meat, BBQ
Servings: 20 - 25
Ingredients
4 lbs. ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cans (10 3/4 oz) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
1 can thick and zesty tomato sauce (15 oz)
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
3 T. worcestershire sauce
1 T. mustard
1 T. dry mustard
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. garlic salt
Instructions
Crumble beef and onion and cook until meat is browned. Add green pepper, cook and stir 5 minutes. Drain.
Add the next 10 ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occassionally to keep from sticking to bottom of pan.
Serve on hamburger buns.
You can add a sliced pickle for a tangy crunch.
